I feel like there's so many things I want to blog about right now, but none of them go together...so maybe I'll save them for one of my slow news days. (This makes my life sound SO exciting) I am kind of trying to figure out what the Navy is going to throw at us right now. Justin got home at 11:30 this morning...not typical by any means, and so the conversation went:
Me: "Is this good news or bad news?"
Justin: "What do you mean?"
Me: "That you're home early...Does that mean they let you leave early today because you are leaving tomorrow?"
Justin: "Yep."
It's kinda funny. Justin jokes about how they hate getting steak and crab legs for dinner when they are out to sea, because it's always followed by bad news. I guess they butter them up to let them down. Like, p.s. guys we're gonna be out for another week...or maybe, we're not hitting that port after all even though you've been on this ship for months with no breaks.
The deal is that the Ike is going out to sea because of the tropical storm Hanna but mostly Hurricane Ike (ironic, right?) are due to head our way. For those of you who don't know, the Navy takes the big ships out to sea when storms come to prevent damage to the ships and the docks that might take place from them being knocked around. So basically, my husband has to leave home in the event of a hurricane, leaving his family home to brave the storm without him. For the record, Angie and I have already planned a tentative road trip in the case of this actually happening.
Now I've received word (from Angie, nonetheless) that there's talk of them leaving in the morning and being gone on into October. This is not the news I want to hear, because the plan has been for Alana and I to go to Nashville by then...leaving us with well, tonight to spend with Justin...the only time we'll have with him til who knows when. Seems like the plans might get changed a bit, but that's what they say..."Life is what happens when you make plans." Or something like that.
I'll update with news as to what they ultimately decide.
Peace, Love and Email-reliant marriages.
